Online IELTS Exam Preparation Assistance

The International English Language Testing System, more commonly known as IELTS, is a very common and globally accepted language test that is used to assess the English language proficiency of a candidate and designed to help an aspirant work, study, or immigrate to a country where English is the native or first official language.

IELTS is widely accepted by most of the foreign colleges and universities and also by the immigration departments of almost all the counties which offer immigration programs e.g. Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, the USA, and others. It is believed that more than three million people appear for the IELTS test around the world every year, and the test is accepted by over 10,000 schools, colleges, universities, and immigration bodies worldwide.

Therefore, it becomes imperative for every immigration aspirant or for students looking to study in foreign universities to not just appear for the IELTS test but also attain high scores in the test, to facilitate smooth and successful processing of their immigration/study abroad application.

At Cross Settle Immigration, we acknowledge the fact that to expect a successful outcome to their visa application, an applicant must score well in IELTS and achieve high bands, as it plays a significant role in the overall process. IELTS Test and Components

The test is jointly owned by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia, and Cambridge Assessment English, and it is conducted in two formats - Computer-based and Paper-based, multiple times a month and in almost all the major cities around the world. The current cost to take an IELTS test is approximately INR 14,700.

Those opting for Paper-based test are required to take Listening, Reading, and Writing modules on paper with either a pen or HB pencil, while the Speaking test is conducted face-to-face with a certified IELTS examiner, and the results of the paper based test are generally announced after 12-13 days.

On the other hand, candidates opting for a Computer-based test take the Listening, Reading, and Writing modules on a computer, while the Speaking test is conducted in the same manner i.e. face-to-face, and the results are usually announced in 3-5 days.

There are two types of IELTS tests i.e. IELTS Academic and IELTS General. While the Academic test is mainly for those students who are looking to take admission in undergraduate or postgraduate level courses in foreign universities, and also for some professional licensing or registration purpose, the General IELTS test is primarily for immigration aspirants who wish to settle down in countries where English is either a native language or first official language.

The applicant is assessed on four components: Speaking, Reading, Writing and Listening, and the results of the test are graded on a scale of 1-9.

6. Competent User The test taker has an effective command of the language despite some inaccuracies, inappropriate usage and misunderstandings. They can use and understand fairly complex language, particularly in familiar situations.
5. Modest User The test taker has a partial command of the language and copes with overall meaning in most situations, although they are likely to make many mistakes. They should be able to handle basic communication in their own field.
4. Limited User The test taker's basic competence is limited to familiar situations. They frequently show problems in understanding and expression. They are not able to use complex language
3. Extremely Limited User The test taker conveys and understands only general meaning in very familiar situations. There are frequent breakdowns in communication.

0. Did Not Attempt The Test User The test taker did not answer the questions.

Every college, university, or immigration body will have its specific IELTS score requirements and so an applicant must confirm this requirement with the relevant authority basis on their purpose of taking the test.

For an immigration aspirant to countries like Canada or Australia, a score of 6 bands in each module is generally accepted as the minimum score required to meet the basic eligibility criteria for their common immigration programs like the Express Entry in Canada and the Skilled Migration program in Australia. However, the higher the score an applicant gets, the more advantage they have over other applicants.
